ADVANCED PISTOL
This program will build the skills required to successfully employ these techniques in a tactical or survival situation. This class is designed to push your practical skills. Drills are designed to make you think outside the box. It is fast paced and will mentally and physically push the student. Awareness and observation will be a key to success in this course.
Expect to shoot 300 or more rounds. This class covers many topics including use of cover, vehicle defense tactics, multiple threats, rapid fire, acceptable accuracy and more. This is not a beginner class. You will need a usable safe draw stroke. You will be expected to have a solid understanding of firearm fundamentals of both shooting and muzzle control.
To learn the required skills for this class, take our intermediate handgun training course first. This class will be hosted outdoors, so please check the gear list for required items.
Prerequisites
1. Must be in good physical condition with no medical restrictions.
2. Must have completed at least a basic firearms training program.
Advanced Handgun — 2-Hour Intensive
Lead Instructor Curtis Harwell leads an advanced, high-performance handgun course designed for students who already know the basics and want to operate faster and cleaner in realistic scenarios. Over two focused hours we push your speed without sacrificing precision, reinforce reliable manipulations, and train practical movement and target-discernment skills you’ll use if it ever counts.
This is not recreational shooting — it’s practical defensive training. Expect live-fire drills that pair timed pressure with accuracy demands, advanced reloads practiced until they’re instinctive, staged stoppages you’ll clear confidently, and movement/positional work that keeps your muzzle discipline intact while you engage. We also include one-hand drills, barricade exposure, and a short stress/precision element so you learn to perform after physical exertion.
What you’ll walk away with:
- Faster, repeatable shot placement under pressure
- Tactical & emergency reload proficiency and instinctive stoppage management
- Confident shooting on the move, from kneeling/low positions, and one-hand control
- Rapid, accurate transitions between multiple targets and improved decision speed
